Chris Daggett on Winning…

Fact versus myth. While more and more people are seeing the light and supporting my candidacy, there are still some skeptics, and its time to put their misconceptions to rest.

Myth: My vote will be wasted if I vote for Chris Daggett

Fact: The only wasted vote is one in which you don't believe in, a vote for the same old thing when you want change, or a vote against someone rather than for someone. Vote your conscience. The truth is, Daggett won't waste your vote…but his opponents would.

Myth: Chris Daggett is the best candidate, but I'm afraid he can't win

Fact: If every supporter we've met on the campaign trail, at headquarters, or through the website, just went out and voted Daggett (instead of worrying about it), we would win by a land slide. As the Mets said in '73, "You gotta believe!" We do.

Myth: A vote for Daggett is a vote for Christie. Or….A vote for Daggett is a vote for Corzine

Fact: The idea that we are taking votes from one party or the other just shows an arrogance on the two parties behalf that they own those votes to begin with. Recent polling numbers confirm: Christie is now only one point ahead of Corzine when Daggett is NOT included in the poll. When Daggett IS included -- Christie is only down by 1 percent. That 2 point swing shows Chris's support of 17% comes from both sides. Additionally, we will be bringing in votes from people who have been so disgusted with New Jersey politics that they wouldn't have voted at all before Daggett was an option.

Myth: He has too far to go and not enough time to do it

Fact: First, lets look at history … time and time again, a trailing candidate came out a week, days even night of election night behind … and won. Look at Jesse Ventura who was only at 21% a little over a week before the election, and won!

More importantly, we are climbing rapidly in the polls (as opposed to the other two candidates!). The last FDU poll puts us at 17% -- that was a 5% increase in only 5 days! And with almost 4 weeks left, that number will only keep growing.

Myth: Not enough people know about Chris Daggett for him to win

Fact: True, we don't have the millions or the party backing and special interests to fund saturated media buys -- but we have exploded on the scene with press support, buzz about the clear win at the first debate, and our "conversion" rate is unheard of. The latest Quinnipiac Poll shows that 75% of people who know about Chris Daggett and his platform say they will vote for him. So, help us to get our message out there by contributing what you can and our momentum will continue!

Despite the momentum generated by the first debate and steadily climbing polling numbers -- I hear from some people, "you're the best candidate but you can't win". The fact is, I can, and I will. The only wasted vote is one in which you don't believe in, or a vote against someone rather than for someone.

We have a lot of support out there and it's growing every day. The tax plan Chris Daggett laid out finally got the campaigns to focus on the most important issue to voters in this election.

And right there, you can see one of the challenges with our two party system. Rather then deal with the issues that voters want to hear, our system encourages the party candidates to focus on character assassinations. As Chris Daggett said during the debates, voters don't really care about who got a loan or who has the worst driving record. They care about property taxes and how we're going to make the state more competitive for small businesses and the environment and many other issues. But again, our two party system encourages us to focus on the easy complaints.

But, someone who is independent of this two party system can develop a wider variety of plans and not be beholden to the party solutions. Today, we need answers that transcend the two parties. We need to seek the best answers from where ever they come from. We can't keep running with this ‘business as usual' mentality.

So spread the word. Make your vote count. Help us make a real change in New Jersey!
